Liberia HFA Phase 1 and 2; Liberia DQR and Kenya DQR & modified HFA in 2016/2017

The HEFDC formerly registered as HEDC provided Technical Assistance (TA) to the Ministry of Health Liberia to conduct an HFA; this entailed providing support and on-the-job capacity building. The TA for Kenya Ministry of Health was to provide support in conducting the DQR and modified HFA; and also, to conduct granting on-behalf of the Global Fund (GF) this involved staged disbursement of $231,980 to the MoH, and ensuring proper funds accounting and reporting is done by the MoH.

Sub Saharan Africa: Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) Special Study in 2017

The HEFDC (HEDC) conducted a complex mixed study in 18 Sub-Saharan African (SSA) Countries to review the scale up and access. The study documented Successes, lessons learned, best practices, and challenges; and provided recommendations/suggestions.

Quality assurance (QA) for the TB Prevalence Surveys (TBPS) in Botswana and Eswatini; and retrospective QA for Kenya and Nigeria – February to December 2019:

The objective was to provide quality assurance services at each step of each TB Prevalence Surveys in Botswana and Eswatini to ensure that data generated from TB prevalence survey are quality assured, by ensuring that activities are implemented according to the standard WHO guidelines and approved survey protocol.

Prevalence surveys are cross-sectional and population-based surveys of a random sample of the population in which the number of people with TB disease in the survey sample is measured. In a survey that follows the recommendations WHO handbook, all survey participants are screened using interviews and chest X-rays. Sputum samples are then taken from all those with abnormal chest X-rays and/or symptoms suggestive of pulmonary TB. Sputum samples are tested in laboratories to identify which individuals have bacteriologically positive pulmonary TB (that is, smear positive TB and/or culture-positive TB).

Quality assurance of laboratory services in Tanzania – 01 April 2019 to 31 July 2019

Reviewed the quality and effectiveness of HIV Viral load, HIV Early Infant laboratory testing and Gene expert operations and develop practical recommendations to improve the quality of the laboratory services in Tanzania in coordination with the Tanzania Ministry of Health and Laboratory Directorate.

Quality assurance of the Integrated Supportive Supervision and Data Quality Audit (ISS/DQA) – 2019 -2020 Implementation (ISS/DQA) in coordination with the Rwanda Ministry of Health and Laboratory Directorate.

Reviewed the planning and implementation processes and provide quality assurance reports, along with recommendations for continuous improvement of the processes.

Quality assurance of laboratory services- Evaluation of the National Integrated Sample Referral Network (NISRN) for VL/EID PCR, TB and HIV Laboratory Network in Nigeria – February 2020 – May 2021:

Quality assurance review of the effectiveness and efficiency of the national specimen referral system with specific focus on the intended objectives and provide recommendations for improvement and provide insights into the key system components of the specimen referral system.

Quality assurance of the Harmonized Health Facility Assessment (HHFA) Implementation in coordination with the Rwanda Ministry of Health – December 2021 to Mid-2023:

This involves review the planning and implementation processes, and provide quality assurance reports, along with recommendations for continuous improvement of the HHFA processes.
