
Tom Menjor
M&E and Research, Social & EIA/ESIA and Climate Change & Disaster Management
Tom Menjor is based in Sierra Leonne, he holds Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Environmental Sciences (BSc.), Environment and Development, Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Management and Quality Control, Master of Research and Public Policy (MRPP), Certificate in Software Engineering and Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation.
He has 15 years of extensive work experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), institutional capacity building, community inclusion and mobilization, and environmental and social impact assessment. His work spans a range of sectors, including poverty reduction, education, climate change, governance, gender, and disaster management.
Some of the key roles he has taken up and experience are below:
- Monitoring & Evaluation/Research, and Climate change: Tom has vast experience gained from working with various organizations: (i) M&E Manager for Guma Valley Water Company in Sierra Leone, (ii) M&E Specialist for Adam Smith International on water sector programme in Sierra Leone West Africa Regional (iii) M&E officer for USAID funded programme on Climate change and biodiversity conservation, (iv) M&E officer for urban slum upgrading programme.
- Institutional Capacity Building: Tom has worked as a consultant for All We Can and Y-Care International UK (February 2022-present), He provides strategic institutional strengthening support to five NGOs in Sierra Leone, and by extension to 26 NGOs across Africa, focusing on governance, health, environmental protection, and community development.
- Community Mobilization & Engagement: He has extensive experience in community-driven projects such as, Slum upgrading project, Disaster management, the strengthening ecumenism and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) education project, community mangroves restoration, forest restoration, livelihood and governance project, self-funded community development project and facilitating community-based waste management initiatives in Freetown.
- Gender and Social Inclusion: He has worked with organizations such as CODE Sierra Leone, to support projects promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights for girls, as well as addressing female genital mutilation (FGM) through advocacy and educational programs.
- Social & Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA/ESIA): As an EIA Consultant for CEMMATS Consultancy Group Ltd (2006-2010), he assessed and conducted environmental impact studies for various development projects in Sierra Leone.
- Climate Change Vulnerability & Disaster Management: Tom contributed to the West Africa Biodiversity and Climate Change (WA BiCC) program, including an assessment of sub-projects on embankment, agri-silviculture and mangroves restoration, Village Savings and Loan Schemes (VSLAs) and climate change impacts. Additionally, He has served as a Disaster Risk Reduction Project Coordinator, overseeing initiatives funded by organizations such as Comic Relief and the European Union (EU).
