Jane Shirima is a gender and health expert with over six years of experience specializing in gender-sensitive research, project evaluation, and policy advocacy in the areas of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV, Malaria, and gender-based violence (GBV). She has collaborated extensively with international organizations, government agencies, and civil society to strengthen gender-responsive health systems, integrate gender equity into service delivery, and advance inclusive policy frameworks.
Her expertise spans participatory research methodologies, evaluations, and the design of gender-sensitive health programs. She has led evaluations of HIV and Malaria interventions, embedding gender perspectives into program assessments to ensure equitable health outcomes. Additionally, Jane has worked on policy enhancement projects, including the review of the Kilifi Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Act, advocating for gender mainstreaming in health governance.
Jane is skilled in generating sex- and age-disaggregated data to uncover gender disparities, authoring technical reports, and providing actionable recommendations for stakeholders. Her ability to merge research with practical applications makes her a valuable consultant in gender, SRHR, research, and evaluations. Jane holds a Masters degree in Gender and Development; Specialized in gender analysis, development studies, and practical applications in gender mainstreaming; and Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology.
