Dr. Jane Muita

Dr. Jane Muita holds a Master’s degree in public health (MPH), Master of Medicine in Paediatric, and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery University of Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya. She has over 25 years’ experience both in employment and consultancy services as a Public Health Specialist, Pediatrician, monitoring & Evaluation and Researcher: Children, nutrition, immunization, and health policy. Jane has made significant contributions in shaping programmes and providing vision to improve the well-being of children and families in many countries. She made. she supported both UNICEF Ethiopia and UNICEF Uganda as Deputy Representative and as Senior management advisor supporting analysis and guidance at the Mid -Term of the country programmes.

Dr. Muita undertook significant research in the areas of nutrition guiding the development of community-based nutrition programming, prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) and supporting research and primary health care interventions in semi-arid areas of Kenya and especially among pastoralist tribes
As the Deputy Representative in Ethiopia, Malawi and Rwanda, Dr. Muita coordinated the country situation analysis of women and children, mid-term and endline reviews and led the development of UNICEF country programmes which responded to child rights not fulfilled in those countries. Dr. Muita played pivotal roles in ensuring that nutrition was retained as a significant agenda on government and donor discussions and provided technical guidance for the Nutrition and child survival teams in different countries.
